Meet Buffy.
Buffy is a well-socialized, approximately 7-year old pitbull with a gentle and mellow disposition. She's the kind of dog that will follow you around quietly from room to room. And when you settle down, she'll settle down right beside you.
Buffy was used as a breeding dog for most of her life and then callously dumped when deemed no longer "useful". The workers at the Monterey Animal Shelter fell in love with her, and when her time was up at the shelter, they couldn't bear to have her put down. So out of their own pockets, they came up with $500 to have her boarded and contacted rescues who then contacted other rescues who eventually contacted the people at Paw Printz Pitbull Rescue. Though Paw Printz was already full and no longer accepting dogs, the coordinator there was also won over by Buffy's sweetness and took her in.
Buffy minds well and is a rather undemanding dog. She is calm towards people, and extremely good-natured. She's not a barker, doesn't jump on people, and takes treats with gentleness. Buffy enjoys her walks but is also content to just lounge around the house with you. She does have a tendency to pull on the leash during the first few minutes but settles down nicely.
Did I mention she's extremely good-natured?
Buffy is house-trained but may require a refresher course in her new home until she becomes familiar with the new routine. She is a bit overweight, which stems from having been free-fed, so once she starts getting measured meals, her weight should dramatically decrease. Buffy is also crate-trained, rides extremely well in the car, and gets along with other dogs.
Buffy is currently being fostered in the Antioch/Brentwood area. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on shots and heartworm medication. There is a $150 adoption fee to help cover a portion of her medical expenses. Please email for an adoption application. A homecheck will also be required as we want to make sure that Buffy goes into an environment most suited for her well-being.
Buffy was deprived of a lot of love in the first years of her life. She was selfishly used as a tool rather than appreciated as a devoted companion. Yet her trust in people, her gentleness, and her ability to reciprocate tenfold whatever affection she is shown remain untouched. Buffy deserves an incredible amount of happiness in her life, but it will in no way compare to the amount of happiness she'll bring into yours.
