You're absolutely right - if they wanted to stop the ongoing terrorism they need to deal with the issues you presented. However this war was started without a strategy or solution - it was meant to be an ongoing scare tactic in America that would presumably place the right-wing Republicans in power indefinitely. A classic case of power, greed, and corruption without regard to the pain, suffering, and death of American citizens and military personel. History will show that the tragedy of 9/11 that swept a trusting America into our ongoing involvement with terrorism was actually a conspiracy that involved in one way or another, Americans sacrificing fellow Americans to trigger the conflict.
